"Getaways"
Writer: Peter David
Pencils: Jim Calafiore
Inks: Mark McKenna
Brief Synopsis: Rick and Marlo head to the Microverse for some alone
time, Jackie Shorr is dealt with, and Genis visits some old friends where he
learns that all isn't well.
Comments: Jim Calafiore and Mark McKenna turn in some terrific
artwork this issue; very crisp and clear. They're also able to get the facial
expressions down which I suppose is a necessity with PAD's humor involved.
After the debacle with Bill Jemas a couple months back, we're starting to
see the focus of the book shift from Rick and Marlo to Genis. Not that I mind
either way, I enjoyed this book for the previous thirty-two issues with the
focus on the Jones, and I enjoyed this issue as well. David introduces some
characters from Nicieza's Captain Marvel title years ago, but manages to get
all the important info out there. And just as things finally seem to be going
right for Rick and Marlo, he throws in the situation with Moondragon.
Solid artwork, funny humor, and the introduction of various new and
interesting plotlines. All in all, a good read.
